This political cartoon is a representation of the events that caused the Spanish American war. In the front is a man named Hearst who stole and published a letter that was written by the Spanish minister at Washington. In the background is the US battleship was sunk in the Havana Harbor on February 15th, 1898. In the sinking of this ship, US lost 260 men. The man running with the letter is sarcastically exclaiming "This isn't your letter is it?" and the american man furiously responds "This means WAR!"
